Current draw on 997c SI unit
« on: November 09, 2009, 07:38:34 PM »
I am in the process of upgrading from an older Matrix unit to something like the 997. Looking at the specs, I cannot see what the amps draw might be for a proper chartplotter plus SI function. I assume it is much more than the little Matrix, but  just how much is the question.

I have a 50 h.p. Yamaha, and it has perhaps 6 amps available. Is this enough?

Thanks, Tony.

According to the Humminbird web site the 997c Si unit draws about 800mA.

Your motor can provide about 5.2 Amps more than what the 997 unit will need, so you are good.
[1,000mA (milliamps) = 1.0 Amps]

Just be sure to use the heavier gauge power cable that comes with the 997 unit when you install it.
