Pair of side imaging transducers for Helix
« on: January 03, 2022, 02:50:01 PM »
Hi, I'm back enjoying being a boat owner again. My last boat was outboard powered and I had the pleasure of having a 998C SI unit, I got it around 2010, I think at the time it was only Humminbird doing the side imaging (I live in the UK and managed to get the unit from the USA bypassing the import duty etc)

The boat I have now is semi displacement with a diesel shaft drive, 3ft draught, deadrise of 15 deg. I'm going to rig it out with some new elctronics, a good chart plotter with side imaging is top of the list. I fish mainly very shallow salt water 10-40 ft. I'd like to go with Humminbird again, possibly a Helix 10 DI+SI. Would I be able to get a pair of through hull transducers that would give 100% functionality of the plotter.

I can't really find much information on a pair of transducers except a pair it says that are compatible with: SOLIX 12 SI, SOLIX 15 SI, ONIX Series and ION Series.

Cheers and thanks for looking

HELIX 10 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N comes standard with the XM 9 HW MSI T transom mount xducer  ...

It is possible to purchase HELIX 10 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G4N CHO (control head only)  ...
https://humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.com/fish-finders/helix/helix-10-chirp-mega-si-gps-g4n-cho

Then purchase separately 2 of the XPTH 9 HW MSI T “thru hull” xducers  ... (these requires drilling a hole thru the hull for mounting)  ...

You would also need the 9 M SILR Y cables to split off the left SI to come from the port mounted thru hull xducer  ...

CHIRP HW 2d, DI, right SI and temperature would still come from the starboard mounted thru hull xducer  ...
