Need Help With Setup To Video With 997c
« on: October 21, 2009, 07:47:46 PM »
Hey guys I am sure this has been addressed before but here goes. I am not good with a computer and don't know squat about the language used with them. What im looking for is a simple explanation for the setup with a HB 997c SI to video and then to know how to playback video over my laptop. To complicate matters I have a macbook but I have windows installed and can run through windows if needed. I downloaded the humviewer program and so many icons appeared on the screen that I don't know how to use or remove them. I know to use a blank sd card and insert into unit and how to hit record button. The problem is not knowing if my settings are right on the 997c, im using the default settings for the most part and scanning about 75 ft in shallow water ranging from 4 foot to about 10 foot depths. In water depths of a little over 10 foot to about 20 foot I usually scan around 100 ft. In depths of 25 foot to 50 foot or so I scan about 150 to 200 ft or enough to get the water column small enough to see the detail to the sides. Each time I try to playback the sd card through the computer I don't get anything. Please help this dummy if you can.

Thanks

Barry

ok first let's talk about how you use your sd card. You need to have the right size card slot on your computer for the card to fit into. If not you need to go to the local target or walmart store and purchase a multi port card reader( cost around 20 bucks). That way you can use it for all your cards i.e. your digital camera as well. It's simple from there.Just plug the reader cable into the proper size port on your puter Make sure ou put the sd card from the HB into the proper slot, Go to start, click on my computer and you will see the reader there. click on it and there will be all the data files you recorded while the chip was on your boat.when you double click that file it should open. That's what  I do. Hope this helps with the computer part. My 987 does not do video. Maybe someone else can help with how to do video on your unit. Good luck and hope this helps.

The 997 does not have video out.  I think what he means is taking a Recording from the 997 and playing it back in HumViewer and turning it into a video.

Currently, only the 1197c offers direct video out.  The 2010 models, 998c and 898c will also offer the video out feature.

Basically, make a recording on your 997c to the SD card.  Download and install the HumViewer software, and open the Recording files in HumViewer.  You may want to read the help files and post here on how to use the HumViewer features.

I am not completely up to speed on all the latest features myself.  ;) ;)

Sorry I meant to ask about recording then playback with my macbook running windows xp.
When I go to my computer a screen comes up asking what windows program to use to view the sd card.  I tried several different options and the format I guess is wrong.  Again, Im not familiar with the proper terms.  Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks;

Barry

I am greatly upset that Hbird doesnot have movie files that can be read by Quicktime or Real Player of even iMovie...its almost 2010...not good marketing...and as a 20 year Mac user with Photoshop and Preview I can handle the Snapshots fine but he Recordings and this 3rd Party software are a total user hassle in a word where there are cross platform programs that have been around for years.  Baahh, humbug.
