Title: Pinched/Severed Transducer Cable
Post by: proskeeterman@comcast.net on June 04, 2020, 09:06:35 PM
Ok I have a major problem as of now. I have  Helix 7Si G3N on front w/a transducer mounted on my Ultrex. Today the transducer cable apparently got pinched and a couple of the wires were severed. I'm at odds as to how this happened, but that's a mute point cause it did. I'm afraid to ask this but is the cable repairable or am I totally screwed. My thanks to all that respond.

I have repaired (or modified) dozens of transducer cables  ...

I never recommend repairing a transducer cable that’s below the water line  ...

If you decide to repair -:

*Strip enough of the cable sleeve to have plenty of shielding foil to wrap around the repair   ...
*Offset the individual splices to make the repair smaller  ...
*Use heat shrink on the individual wire splices and the collective of wires  ...
*Liquid tape over the entire repair is also a good idea  ...

Thanks Rickie, the damage is def above the water line closer to the head. I also found a decent step by step video on you tube. It mirrors exactly what you were saying. I am going to attempt the repair with a friend of mine. Hope it works out, thanks again.
