When viewing a SLG-file (converted from Humminbird DAT-file) in a Lowrance emulator, the position seems to be about 7 km south east of the real position.
The help-file of Side Scan Calculator is indicating that there might be a small inaccuracy (see below) but about 6 km seems to be very much ... Who has experienced this too ?
Note: the latitude and longitude values shown in SonarViewer are somewhat inaccurate due to variations in the calculation formulas used by Humminbird and Lowrance for converting UTM meters to degrees. For better accuracy, use the “View” “Options …” “Mercator Meter” setting in SonarViewer.

Hello Danny and welcome to the forum.
I don't know the converter you're using, but I had problems with inaccurate positions when I used HumFinder and had choosen the wrong position format.
Make sure the format is right, maybe there's the problem.
Hope this helps!

The converter used is from oceanecology/

Why convert to SLG?
There are far more better converters/viewers for Humminbird files.
You'd better leave the lowrance viewer alone.

Lowrance emulators are nice and free PC software for viewing both Sonar Logs and tracks on moving maps simultaneously. That's why I sometimes convert to SLG...

Has anyone got a error message,"Cannot open file" with Side Scan Calculator?
I was running on Win XP.

I am unable to open any of my files with the side scan calculator. The developer suggested that the recording should have both 200 and 83 khz beams to work properly. I went out and took some recordings with both beams on, still doesn't open a file. That along with the position error has me thinking this software isn't quite ready for prime time.

Does Lowrance now have a SI emulator? I can not find it on there website if they do. Before their SI was released they had an emulator release date that kept slipping now I can not find any mention of it.
Thanks,
Jim

Unfortunately, not yet. Only emulators for elder units and only 2-D sonar.
Besides this, Side Scan Converter is converting to SLG and not yet SL2 (which is sidescan and downscan)
