Title: 1198 - Internal Gps
Post by: Baker11 on December 09, 2016, 08:23:29 AM
Just purchased a 1198 SI that came with a gps puck. Was thinking of moving the puck to my back 959ci di of my tiller for direction heading at slow speeds. Question is....Does the 1198 have a internal gps to mark the odd spot from up front?

I don't think so.
I think the internal GPS started with the 1199's.

If i network the 959 with the 1198 could i hook up the puck to the 959 to share way points with the 1198 up front?

Yes a GPS antenna will share over Ethernet ...

Your OP indicates interest in using the puck for slow speed heading direction ...

Is the external antenna the AS GPS HS antenna or the AS GR50 that ships with the 1198 ...??
-----

The 959 does have internal GPS ... why not connect the puck to the 1198 and let the 959 use its internal GPS antenna ... ??
