Title: Software Update 3.360
Post by: Skeeter07 on February 10, 2019, 03:56:00 PM
I updated all 3 solix units and had no issues updating to 3.360.  All units say they are updated and then I when I go to network these units back together I get sync failed.  I have solix at bow with i pilot link and 360.  A solix and solix si at console.  I wanted the SI to be mater so I selected that unit and hit sync and get sync failed after some time running.  Has anyone heard any issues networking after this recent software update?  I have even reset factory defaults on all units and tried to redo network and same thing.  Thanks Todd.

So update after talking with Humminbird techs twice tonight.  After further investigation after it would say sync failed I would go to each unit and look at network info.  The two Solix units would link with everything in the network and would see the other two units but the Solix SI 12 unit would only see itself and 360 and 5 port switch.  So I hung up with first lady after she told me to switch the Ethernet cables on the two at the console 1 being just Solix 12 and other Solix 12 SI.  When I did this I got the exact same results the two Solix 12's would see everything but the Solix 12 SI would still only sees itself the 5 port switch and 360.  So that eliminated the possibility of bad 5 port switch and or Ethernet cable.  I called Humminbird back and the lady said she had talked to her lead tech and said they were working on another software update for Solix units and expect something in a couple weeks.  I hope they aren't just blowing smoke up you know where.  Just curious if anyone else has tried networking a Solix and Solix SI unit with new 3.360 software?  Thanks and just thought I would give a update.  Todd

I just tried this Rickie when I got home and still doing the same thing.  The Solix 12's will network and see everything but the Solix 12 SI will not see the Solix 12's.  Guess I will have to wait for next software update to see if what Humminbird call support told me was true.

Thanks for the advice,
Todd

Update for those that could be having the same issue.

I think I got it to work finally thanks to JE VanNatta.  He suggested to restore defaults (which I had done) and also after that to restore Nav data (which I didn’t until I talked Mr. VanNatta).  I first unplugged all Ethernet cables from the 3 units and did the above and shut down.  Then rebooted and let sit for a few (Ethernet still unplugged) and booted a second time and did the same thing.  Then I shut them down connected Ethernet back up and turned units on in order I wanted them “Master Unit” first and then synced.  Now all three units see each other and 360 and switch.

I have had success doing the factory default reset but have never had to do the Nav reset.  Can someone explain to me what the Nav reset does that the reset factory default doesn’t do?  Also, can someone please tell the support people about this as I talked to two of them on the phone and no one ever suggested this.  But for those having this issue with Solix units you might give this a shot.

Again thanks Mr. VanNatta.

There have been many reports thru the years that a corrupt Waypoint can create weird gremlins in HB units  ...

A corrupt Waypoint can be weird dates, weird lat/longitude numbers and even spaces or special characters in the Waypoint name  ...
