That thermocline is showing up great!  I see some bait clouds and stickups as well.  Based off the 2D shot with the slow speed I can see why the longer lines (on the bottom of the screen) are displayed.  If you pick up your boat speed and set scroll speed those lines will then appear as dots (fish) and the long line of bait will show up as a cloud...unless it's large.  then it could take up the whole screen depending on your depth settings.

When that happens you will also see your depth go shallow or start jumping.  Going that slow and passing over bait with fish feeding will look like one big blob with streeks.  Pick up speed and you shouldn't get screen shots like the top one again and you should also see better detail of both fish and structure.

In this shot after setting scroll speed to 4 and boat at 4mph you can see the tree to the bottom right with fish and the detail of the blowed out bridge with a bait cloud above.

hope this helps

Thx for the screenshots and hope ya get a boat load  ;)

After posting that I went back to your 2D shot and you can see fish feeding at the bottom of that bait cloud....the streeking lines.  When I have seen this in the past I normally pull stripe out or buck bass.

well read slabbacks, I didn't see anyone reply to this and it sure looked like thermocline. I thought that's what he was referring too. Where theres streaks theres tight lines. I have noticed fishing with other guys they have no clue how to read whats on the screen.

I switched out the 4 at the console for the 898 and love it.  I have a 5 on the front and want to switch out now for the HB.  That switch fire is great!  This shot shows a brush drop location I have with crappie on and around it.  The next shot was a 16 foot flat that I was jigging off the bottom to pull in a few crappie.

The bright lines moving up and down are under the DX'er..lighter ones are off to the side.  That bright line above them to the right of the screen is a fish that came in from the side moving up and was only in the beam for a short time.  Going out in the morning but I'm heading to the houseboat, will be using a marcum lx-5 flasher unit and a underwater camera up there though.  Not planning on leaving the slip and like you I really enjoy watching them take the jig  ;D
