Title: sd cards for upgrade
Post by: sblatt on May 11, 2011, 04:21:15 AM
hello everyone, i'm picking up my first boat this saturday and it has a 997c si at the console. I was wondering what brand and how much memory sd cards does every suggest buying for downloading the upgrades to my unit? Also what will the upgrades add to my unit. I'm looking for a better chartplotter than the unimaps and possibly down imaging. Thanks for the input.

The update would likely include Di but no update to maps.   For better maps, you will need a Navionics or Lakemaster SD card.   For S/W updates, I just use old Sandisk 1 or 2G cards.   Speed not important for the S/W load, and like to keep seperate from what I use for recording.   For recording, use Sandisk Extreme III w/30MBs, in 4G or larger.   Have fun with your "new to you" unit.

You can use the search tab at the top of the main menu and enter search words just like google.
there are previous posting on SD cards that you might find interesting and helpful.
Purchasing a larger SD card to upgrade will give you the extra benefit of having a larger card for future recordings and snapshots.
