Transfer of Waypoints from 998 to 1199
« on: November 18, 2015, 06:21:35 PM »
I was wondering if there is an easy way to transfer waypoints from one unit to another.  My son has saved a bunch of brush pile waypoints on his 998.  We are both using the same Navionics SD card for mapping which includes the state we live in, Missouri.  Both the 998 and 1199 have dual SD card slots.  We were going to fish out of my boat in a couple of weeks but he was wanting to access his data.  Our Ram mounts are different and his 998 does not have an internal GPS.  I believe the power supply plugs are different also so we cannot just use his unit in my boat.  We are both running the same HD transducer.  Are the waypoints saved on the SD card when you save them?  If not, is there a way to easily save the waypoints to another SD card and then transfer them to the other unit?

Waypoints are saved directly into the unit memory of the unit the waypoints were marked on ...

The waypoints must be manually Exported to a SD Card (not a map card) thru the waypoint management menu under the NAV tab ...

Once the waypoints have been Exported to a SD Card ...they can be loaded right into another unit ...But ...

It would be a good idea to transfer those waypoints into Humminbird PC and rename them so that name duplicates will not be created in the 2nd unit upon loading the waypoints from the 1st unit ...

Duplicate waypoints can sometimes create weird issues in unit operation ...

Waypoint data can be edited on the unit thru the waypoint management menu ... But it's a very tedious button pushing extensive process ...

The 998 and the 1199 both have the same cables ... The cable collectors are different and the 1199 uses the added AS EC QDE adapter cable ...but the xducer cable connector end and the power cable connector end are the same ...

The 1199 can be used with it's own internal GPS antenna or the external GPS antenna from the 998 ...but the 998 cannot be used (for GPS function) without the external GPS antenna ...
