It depends on your unit.  If you have one of the new 858, 898, 958 or 998 units than your only option is to load waypoints and all by SD card as the HumminbirdPC program will not work with these units.

If you have another model Humminbird and also have the PC Connect cables; than you can load waypoints with the Humminbrd unit connected to the computer.  Register your unit than download and install the HumminbirdPC program.  It has a decent Help section that should be able to step you through the process.  If not, just reply back here.

toad,

Not to jump in before Greg, but did you "Export All Nav Data" to the SD card?

Waypoints are saved to the unit and you will have to go in to the Nav Menu and use the Export All Nav Data to save the Waypoints, Routes, and Tracks to the SD card.  Then they can be viewed in HB PC.

Jump in any time Robert.  You know as well as I do (and sometimes better).   You have to do the Export All Nav Data to get a copy of the waypoints onto the SD card.  Remember that this is a copy only and that the same waypoints, tracks and routes are still in the unit’s internal memory.  So if you save the waypoints to the SD card
[NOTE: All waypoints, tracks and routes are saved to the SD card and not just the waypoints and such you made that day], and than rename some of them using HumminbirdPC and than load them back into your unit: you will have duplicate waypoints as each waypoint that was renamed is considered a new waypoint (with the same coordinates as the original waypoints you made) which the unit will load.  Also be aware that if you delete or rename the original waypoints that you will break the link that it has with any screen snapshot that was taken.

gotcha!!!!!!!   rookie mistake!  thanx greg, robert !    so let me get this straight..........    if i have waypoint 001 on my unit, and i rename it to "north brush pile"  i'll have another waypoint on top of the one i named "north brush pile"?   i'll have two way points names for the same spot?  and i can't delete  the extra waypoint?          i'll look at the manual again to try to understand better.   thanx all for the advice!

If you use the Export All Nav Data to an SD card, rename the waypoint “001” to “north brush pile” and than load the waypoint back into your unit: you will have two waypoints marking the same spot.  One will be named “001” and one will be named “north brush pile”.  You can than delete the “001” waypoint while in your unit’s menus.

If you rename waypoint “001” using the rename feature in the Waypoints menu in the unit; you will have only the one waypoint now named “north brush pile”.
