I just got my new FF today; I'll be installing it tomorrow and using it on Sunday. I plan to play with different settings while out fishing but I'm hoping someone here can help me with a good starting point for my settings. I'll be fishing in saltwater from about 30' to as deep as 300'. Also, I saw settings for both saltwater shallow and saltwater deep...what would be considered shallow depth and what would be considered deep? I didn't see this explained in the manual.
Thanks everyone.

Here is Dougs's quick start tips ... But it's for freshwater ...
It still may give you a starting point ...

I can't help much with the saltwater settings except to tell you the algorithms are different for shallow and deep to compensate for salinity (sound travels at different speeds in salt than in freshwater) ...
And there are probably algorithms for surface clutter mixed in there also ...

Yup!
