Helix 10 SI transducer mounting question on Fish/Ski
« on: November 09, 2017, 06:21:06 PM »
New here, Thanks for the add.

I just purchased Helix 10 SI for console and DI for bow. I have an 07' Triton FS-211 (fish and ski). It's a new boat (this summer) to me and I am trying not to put a bunch of messed up holes in it. ;) I've have done a bit of research and was curious if anyone would know/or has done mounting it directly in the middle bottom of the transom , in front of lower unit? Or other option, mounting back in the cavity up by livewell intake.

This is the most money I have ever spent on units and I really need advice and/or reassurance to do this right the first time. Thank you so much for any and all input.

It is not recommended to mount the xducer directly in front of the lower unit water intakes  ... This can create cavitation (bubbles) that may lead to insufficient water intake for motor cooling  ...

To the right or left 6" or so should be enough to eliminate the above possibility   ...

Some have glued marine Starboard to the transom so that holes can be drilled in the Starboard  ...

You also have the option of mounting the expensive SI xducer higher on the transom for slow idle scanning and then use an additional 2d xducer epoxied in the bilge of your fiberglass hull for high speed depth readings  ...

Here is the 2d xducer  ...

Then you would need a Y cable to connect both the 2d xducer and the SI xducer to the head unit  ...

G1 units (and other NON-MEGA core units) would need the AS SIDBY Cable  ...

MEGA units would need the MSIDB Y cable  ...
