798ci another GPS problem
« on: October 12, 2014, 08:52:13 PM »
I've got the 798ci with the internal GPS antenna.  As with many of these models I've since found out, the GPS gives out after a couple of years.  It started intermittently not working about 6 months ago and now I get nothing.  I either get the no GPS connected, no GPS antenna etc.  Has anyone had this repaired?  I'm assuming it's the internal antenna that's burned out or come loose maybe?  What did the factory charge you for the repair?  Not sure it's worth taking it out and sending it back.  I guess everything these days is just made to be disposable.

The only easy option is to buy the external receiver...

The gps in HB unit is not a quality one.. even when it worked.
