1198C update - how long?
« on: April 19, 2015, 05:53:27 PM »
I downloaded the 7.510 update on a clean SD card, returned my unit's defaults back to factory settings and then inserted the card containing the update.  The two safety questions came up which I answered "YES" and it's been running for over 40 minutes.  Is this normal?  At what point should I turn the unit off and try again?  I came from a 5.450 software version up.

1 Hour and 36 minutes - and still seems to be going.  The mph, depth and VLT figures, at the bottom, seems to change slightly.  Got a split screen.  On the left is a side image with just blue; on the right is a map but it's not my map card.  Anyone?  Does this sound right?

It's now 2 hours and 47 minutes.....and no change.  Is there something wrong?

YES something is wrong. The second question was "do you want to abort" You should have answered no. A few minutes is all it should take. Try it again. Bob

Yes....then No.  That worked much better - loaded up pretty quick.  Guess I'm just programmed to answer any question "Yes" when it comes to updating computer software.  Thanks a bunch!

Glad you got it done tellicorick and spot on with the help there Bob.
The questions were worded like that intentionally because so many of us (me included...) are used to double pressing buttons sometimes or answering Yes to whatever question pops up when loading software.
