Topic: Which End of Boat do I Mount GPS Puck???

 I am mounting my first SI unit today on a friend's boat. It is a 998 HB. We are using the standard transom mount transducer. Should I mount the GPS puck close to the transducer or up in the front, ( stick steering) ?? We only crappie fish vertical jigging small manmade structures. He has a 571 DI on the trolling motor and we'll use that to actually tell when we are on the structure.
 I don't know which location would be best to get us back on structure that we mark on the SI. Going to start installation today so please reply quickly if you can help.
