Attention Greg - 1197c 6.180 software update
« on: March 01, 2012, 10:34:01 AM »
Greg,
I looked high and low on the Humminbird site, and I also did some google
searches.
I can't find what the new update does, adds or fixes.

Do you have any info, or could you direct me where to look?

Thanks.

I don’t know what this update is for just now and will look into it this afternoon or tomorrow as my schedule allows me to.  I have a question in as to why a description was not on the web site yet but have no answers for that either at this time.  The 360 Imaging and other activities have been taking up a lot of everyone’s time lately.

Also note Auto Sensitivity for SI/DI sensitivity is gone.
Humminbird's Response on Auto Sensitivity:

The Auto Sensitivity setting attempted to adjust sensitivity based on the strength of returns it was seeing. In many areas, with Side Imaging sonar, the beam is seeing different return strengths as it goes out to the side. This causes issues in these types of areas and results in the sonar unit picking a sensitivity that isn’t what the user wants. Based on feedback sensitivity is a key setting that consumers want to set themselves versus having the fishfinder select for them. Given this we made the determination to make the SI sensitivity, like the 2D sonar have only manual settings.

Little Gazoo
That explains why some of my recordings in 40-50' had small areas that lit up in solid gold color.
There goes that get rich quick scheme. Must have been gravel humps or large boulders.
