Title: Waypoints/taking a picture
Post by: jseasor on May 03, 2010, 09:08:02 PM
when i have my screen snapshot in and i want to mark a waypoint it takes a picture. my question is this.  is it also creating a waypoint? and if so, when i come home and view my picture and then take the picture off the card will my waypoint still be marked when i get back on the water?

2nd thing is this.  i noticed when i use the playback option on my unit when im recording i can view it at all angles, sonar, Down SI and SI.   (once i figure out how to play my videos) is there a way i can view all the angles on my computer just like i did on my unit?

Yes, it is creating a waypoint everytime you take a snapshot.  Yes, even if you take the snapshot off the card the waypoint stays on the unit.

Here is a pretty cool feature.  If you have the snapshot still on the card, go to the chart view and place the cursor over the snapshot waypoint.  A small thumbnail of the snapshot will pop up.

You can use HumVier to play back the sonar recordings.  For now ;) its the closest thing you will get to playing it back on the unit.

Good Luck,

Just to add a little to what Robert has already said...( I think this is right)

Waypoints, routes, and tracks are stored in the internal memory of the unit....and they will stay there until you delete them under the Nav tab/delete all nav data...

Snapshots and recordings go directly to the SD card....

That is correct.

ok i got yellow fin to work, great program.  its not letting me view my pictures on yellow fin, it wont convert the files to the yellowfin program. im using HBSI file converter.  i want to be able to host my videos on youtube if at all possible (as i assume its the easiest way to share with my partner)   how do i take a yellowfin file and put it on youtube?

2. when i review my videos on my unit it shows my video in all screens, DI, SI and the sonar. can i also view the different screens in yellowfin?

3. lets say i want to take a snapshot of a picture, but i want it to be on the SI/DI screen.  if i just hit mark will it take a picture of whatever screen im currently viewing?

YellowFin will only do Side Imaging.  It will not show DI or 2d or snapshots.

Right now the best solution is HumViewer.  It will show the SI, DI , 2d and track and will also export an AVI video of the playback.

Whenever you make a screen snapshot it will save whatever you have up on the unit’s display at that moment.  That may mean you just captured an image of the menus or it could be showing the Lat/Lon of your favorite fishing hole as well.  If you want an image of the Si and Di sonar than all you have to do is have that up on the display when you press the MARK button and an image of the display will get saved to the SD card.  The waypoint will be at your boat’s location at the moment you actually pressed the MARK button.
