updating 1198's ?
« on: December 19, 2012, 07:46:58 PM »
have two 1198's one is running 5.210 and one 5.410. I cant network them so you all told me to upgrade first.

the directions with the upgrade say only power up unit with no asseccories ( i cant spell). hooked up.

my question is the 1198 plug has four parts to it and they all plug in togther ... how can you just plug in the power?

i have power, gps, sonar, and temp /speed

i would rather have no network than have to send them in.

I have an 1197 and an 1198 and have done my  updates with everything connected.  I believe that most of us do the updates with everything installed, it would be a pain to disassemble and reassemble the cables just to do an update.

Updating with the transducer and GPS Receiver connected is okay.
I would disconnect any Ethernet connections, the InterLink, CannonLink or WeatherSense accessories.

Hi Greg

I have weather sense  and it would be a pain to remove the electrical panel to disconnect it to do an update.  Is this something new that we should disconnect it?

Not a fan of having to disconnect things to do an update.

George,
We have had some Customers have problems when they tried to update the software in their units with the some of these accessories connected.  It’s like the resetting the menus back to the factory defaults deal: some have a problem if they do not do this while most don’t.  Whether you would have to do this for your unit or not – I don’t know.
