788 ci and Quadra beam
« on: January 19, 2011, 06:20:53 PM »
I have a new 788 ci ,non HD. It has quadra beam in the transducer select menu and a quadra beam view. I have updated with the most recent 5.?? software. , is it seems like the quada beam is not working correctly on the 788. but when I put the transducer on my 997. it does. There seem to be no side view on the 788. Any info appreciated.
Thanks

I have the same unit on the front of my bass boat mounted on the trolling motor.  It works great!! But to use that feature you need the QuadBeam transducer that is different than the 1 that comes with the unit. The 1 with the unit should be a dual beam 200/83 kz.  Hope this Helps.

Set the 788 to quadbeam transducer and on view I use classic view. I shows the downview at the top of the screen and the there should be view under that it should be a split screen with a view to left and right. Check out quadrabeam at Humminbird.com

Trytoofish,
How are you connecting the QuadraBeam transducer to the 788ci unit?  Is it directly connected or is this through a switch or Y-cable?  If you are not doing so already, try it directly connected to the 788ci unit.

Hi Greg
It is directly connected. On the 997 direct connect. the side bands are active. On the 788, I need the sensitivity set to max to see any side band at all.

This sounds like an issue with the 788 unit than, with the 455kHz transmitter or receiver.  I think that you will need to contact the Humminbird Customer Resource folks and talk to them about shipping the unit in to be tested.  Make sure that you tell them that the same QuadraBeam transducer works fine on your 997 unit.  1-800-633-1468

Thanks Greg
I will give them a call, I kinda figured it had to be the unit being it worked fine on the 997,but wanted to make sure I was not missing something.

Here in Minnesota you can walk on water! (six months of the year anyway)
