Title: SI Transducer Placement - Issue?
Post by: bwfeldman2 on November 02, 2012, 11:38:04 AM
I recently installed an SI Transducer for my new 998 SI. I have a 1994 Ranger R72, and there is limited space to mount the transducer without limiting the side to side visiblity. Will the configuration in the picture work? The livewell screen sticks out about an inch or so, and I am not 100% sure where the side beams come off the transducer. I haven't had a chance to take it out on the water yet, but I turned it on in my garage and I wasn't getting any strange black lines or patterns on the right side of the boat.

I included a picture below from before I installed the SI transducer that has a larger view of the backside of my boat. The standard transducer in that picture is still there and will remain there if possible. I am using it as my high speed transducer, and have a Y cable setup. I think it is placed slightly higher than the SI that is mounted on the opposite side.

Any help would be appreciated!

Ben

Ben,
It’s hard to tell but it looks pretty good to me.  You will have to test it on the water to be sure though.  If the screen does partially block the right Si sonar you could try mounting a spacer of some sort between the transducer mount and the boat.  It would not have to be very thick at all.
