Title: Helix 5 and 7 question
Post by: Bruced on July 13, 2015, 11:50:17 AM
So I'm thinking about buying one of the two depthfinders listed and am wondering if my full sized sd cards will work in them somehow with some kind of adapter. Or do I have to toss them and buy the new micro cards? If they don't work  I'll probably keep the 798 that I have now.

your 798 has more optional features compare of the  Helix or 698 unit.

you wont see any changes switching to helix except the two extra inches ... which is not such a big deal ..

So I know the helix 7 takes a mini card. Just wondering if there's such a thing as an adapter to plug into the mini card hole of the helix 7 so that  I could use my full sized lakemaster cards into the adapter which is plugged into the helix 7. Just wanted to know if such an adapter exists.

I found this ...

 http://www.amazon.com/48cm-Sd-micro-Card-Extender-Cable/dp/B007WYRO7O (http://www.amazon.com/48cm-Sd-micro-Card-Extender-Cable/dp/B007WYRO7O)

I have no idea if it will allow you to use your SD Card in a micro SD Card slot ...

It's pretty cheap ... Might be worth a shot ...

Let us know if you try it and it works ...

The only downside of the cable extender, is that the little door on the Helix couldn't go back on. If the unit is exposed to a splash of water, that would be bad medicine for it. PS I already bought a new door for my Helix. That looks like it could get lost in a hurry and I want to have an extra.
