597ci hd di
« on: September 05, 2013, 10:10:36 PM »
Had issue with new 597cihddi today. While fishing I noticed the unit was only displaying red and white on 200kz sonar, the 455 di was working fine. I had the unit set on original color pallet and the transducer on the trolling mtr. I also have a 798ci si in the boat with transom mounted trans.  I'm thinking something is wrong with transducer or the unit itself. Anyone else had this issue? Should I send the unit back to hb?

I haven’t heard of this particular problem, so would suggest that you reset the unit back to its factory defaults by using the Restore Defaults menu in the Setup menu tab.

Make sure that the other sonar is shut off and that the 597ci HD DI unit is using its own DI transducer.

Also make sure that this does not only happen when the trolling motor is being run.

It's sonar to sonar cross talk. I did the restore default thing and the noise thing. I just turn of sonar off at helm when using trolling motor now seems to work fine when I do that.  I tried the bottom range thing and it helped some.
Curious though why the interference only seems to affect the 597 at the bow and not the 798 at the transom. Seems like they would randomly freak.
I've also tilted the rear transducer slightly away from the bow hoping to reduce the crosstalk but haven't tested it yet. Will post results when I'm on the water Friday.
