navionics problem
« on: April 21, 2011, 10:27:40 PM »
Just had a new 1198 installed, i had a lowrance which had a navionics chip in it.  I got the card last year.  So i took it out and put it in my humminbird.  It will start up but after about 20 seconds, the unit shuts down and restarts, it will keep doing that until i take the card out.  Just wondering if anyone has seen this problem before, or if anyone has any advice.  I was in my driveway also.  I am heading out onto a lake tomorrow, and i will give it another try.  I also have a 997 on my TM, which i did not try it in that unit.  Any help would be great, Thanks

I would first look at your chart select option under the chart menu.
I think if it's set to auto, then you can put the chart into either slot.
If it's set to right, then you have to put the chart in the right side slot.

The system default is Auto.
I always put my chart in the right slot and my updates/recording disk in the left slot.

If that doesn't work, then read the information from the outside of your Navionics chip and call Navionics or look on their website and see if that chart is actually compatible with your 1198.

Good Luck.

My 1197 is a year old and is an NVB.  I had to set the option to right side slot for mine to work properly -- for some reason -- I put my 4GB extreme in the left side.  Also set chart to HotMaps instead of auto or Gold+.  Works well this way for me.
