Title: Google earth
Post by: Alloutdoors on June 19, 2013, 04:59:26 PM
What is the best way to gather thunbtacks with lat. and long. on them from Google earth. Is there a way to put them in a folder and print the folder for entering into your boat unit. Or is it easier to write everything down and enter it into your boats unit.

If there are a lot of them I would try saving them as a Google Earth *.KML file, using GPS Babel to convert that file to a *.GPX file, open the file using HumminbirdPC, upload that data to an SD card and install them in your Humminbird unit using the SD card.

Yes.  Just put all your Google Earth placemarks into a GE folder.  Then right-click on that folder, select Save As..., then save them all as a .KML(not a .KMZ).

Then use GpsBabel to convert.  Or you can go to www.gpsvisualizer.com (http://www.gpsvisualizer.com) to convert and download your new file.
