What would cause the lines on port side of boat? Fay

Hey Fey...Nice image,I will see lines like that when its rough and the boat is rocking side to side...

It was my first time out with HB unit and It was slick as glass. My transducer is on the stbd. side so
it may be caused by the motor. If the darn wind will ever lay down I will try again with motor up some.
The picture is so small its hard to see the lines but when enlarged they are sure there.
By the way, I see you have my favorite target fish in your hands. Nice fish! ;) Fay

Like glass that day huh?...Strange like I said I have a few images that look just like that and every time I was rocking and rolling.These transducers are so sensitive there could be any number of things causing it.So your a fellow Fluke chaser huh....Nice do you guys call them fluke down there?The 2 in my picture are 6 and 6 1/2 lbs nice fish I'm still after my double digit.. ;)...Maybe this will be my yr season opens May 1st....Can't wait

We call them flounder. I am still chasing my first double digit as well. ;D
Last year was my worst ever, but who knows one of these days!
HB si will be of little or no help with the flounder but I have high hopes it will
help with the spec. trout and rock fish. later - Fay

Fay when I bought my unit last season the last thing on my mind was it helping me catch more fluke.I couldn't have been more wrong first I use it to find the bait fish around here in the spring and early summer we get a big sandeel run.Find the sandeels and you find the fluke all I do is start looking in areas where they should be and in no time I find the clouds of sandeels on the side image.They look like clouds of smoke then after I find the bait I start drifting and everytime we hook a decent fish I hit the mark button on my unit.As the day goes on I look at all the waypoints where we hooked fish and it makes a map of where all the fluke are setting up works great.Then later in the season when the fluke spread out more I will start targeting structure for them and well when it comes to finding structure side image can't be beat.I will look for boulder fields with patches of sand in between them and I will target these patches of sand.That couldn't be done without my unit so as you get more time on the water with your bird you will see that it will help you be a better fisherman and help you in ways you haven't even thought of yet. ;)...I have no doubt my double digit is coming and my unit will play a big part in finding her.....

Fay, your question on the left side lines..
Could be interference in the left transducer or could be a tilt in the transducer mount placing the left side slightly in the upward position..
Or possibly a slight tilt up and catching some air if it is not deep enough...

Chuck, because the hull has a lot of "V", the left side of the transducer may not be getting
as much clean water flow at the right side. After I make a few more recordings, I plan
to pull the boat and paint the transducer. I think I will try to tilt the left side of transducer down some and take a look. thanks - Fay
