ONIX ISSUE
« on: March 06, 2016, 10:37:26 AM »
I recently did a trade and picked up Onix touch.

The good- Side image is unreal!

The bad- I have yet to see a D I or a 2 D picture.

I am about ready to toss this thing overboard. I am close to H B and I took head unit to them to check and everything is ok .
It came with a brand new transducer. (XT 14 20 HDSIT) Not sure if its operator error or a problem with the unit . I get nothing on 2 D and on D I it will show lines at times. I also have no depth read out on any screen . I have it wired straight to the battery with 10 gauge wire.
I have a 1199 and a 360 on bow , and a Ethernet switch .. Its the newest version..  . I can see the 360 on the Onix with no issues ..

Any Ideas ?

The first thing I would try is disconnect the 360 and the 1199.    I would then reset your sonar defaults.   One thing that i find is when i run the 360 and it is first used by my 1198 I loose control on the Onix10. In order to get control on my Onix I have to shut my Onix off and reboot it.   Any time I run into problems the first thing I try is a reboot of my Onix.  If this doesn't solve the problem I reset defaults.  The more things networked together the more chance of complications.

You should also update your ONIX to the latest 2.700 software in your HB account ...

There were several bugs supposedly fixed in this release ...

Be sure to follow the ONIX update procedure to the letter ...

Sure sounds like a transducer issue .... or a setting which resetting defaults should fix.

If you live close......call them an take the whole boat over there.
**Looking for the one that makes it all worthwhile**

Guys I took it back to H B yesterday .. They said everything was fine with the unit . And updated it . I figured out what was wrong , I actually feel pretty stupid. I had installed the splitter cable when I put the unit on boat . H B has the in boat transducer back ordered and I didn't have one hooked up . After getting back on water after H B said unit was ok , same issue . I was thinking it had to be a transducer issue, and realized what I had done. I guess the unit was looking for both transducers and would lock up . I know it works great and the images are unreal. Thanks for all the help !

MGEOD,  glad to hear that you have it figured out.  Don't feel bad about not getting it right at first.  With today's equipment (not only equipment used in boats) It is very easy to hook something up wrong or not at all and then to try and figure out what is wrong. We have all been there before and will end up going there again in the future.  That is why forums like this are so great to have.
