making a cross section
« on: October 25, 2013, 09:14:14 PM »
Hello .. I am using 998csi. Is accurate for a range of values on the right side and the left, if the average river depth of 3-7 meters and the average river width of 30 to 60 meters?

What is the best setting for SI range, i set for 70 meter or auto ?

This relates to determining the value of "cross section" at any point that I will make later.

Thanks

Joel

I’m not real sure what you are asking here Joel.  Your 798 unit should be able to work in 3 to 7 meters of water and out to 60 meters in width at those water depths.

I would use a steady manual setting like 70 meters if I wanted to see how the sides of river were shaped.  However, using a smaller Si Range setting will increase the viewable Si sonar resolution on the unit itself.  I don’t like the SI Range on a unit automatically changing on me because I would have to constantly look to see what the range is set at and factor that into my brain when I’m looking at the Si sonar readings.
