Post by: joeyd50 on September 04, 2012, 04:27:24 PM
I have a Humminbird 747c, it says GPS ready, what do I need to get the GPS working?
Thanks

It appears that all you need to do is plug in an AS GR16 GPS module.  This one has the 747c listed as working with the 747c model.  The AS GR50 does not list your model.

Not sure what you are going to see, it does not appear that there are any electronic maps associated with this system.  The manual does not have anything from what I can see that shows using the GPS, there should be something available.  Maybe Greg can help.

I didn't see anything in the manual, and looking at Humminbird website the antenna seems to be the only thing you need. I did that and nothing happened. I know the antenna is working because I plugged my son's 595c in and it worked fine.

Adding a GPS Receiver to the 747c unit will make it a trackplotter (no maps) type unit.  If the GR16 worked with the 595c unit than it should have also worked with the 747c.  Sounds like something is not working in the 747c unit.

Yea that's what I was thinking, I did know it was without maps, but it would still get me back where I started.
 Thanks
