Hi, newbie here. I've been everywhere trying to find an answer to this. I've split the transducer for my solix 10 side image left, side image right and 2d using y cables. I have read the 2 d should be mounted normally for high speed reading and the si should be mounted higher to protect them since they won't be needed for on plane reading anymore. What I can't find is how high is higher. Should they be totally out of the water on plane? Or just a few inches up but still in the water? What should I do? Thanks.

The SI xducer(s) can be mounted at any height on the transom and below the water line off plane ...
Most mount the SI xducers with the bottom face of the xducer higher than the bottom of the transom so as to prevent a rooster tail of the SI xducer dragging thru the water on plane.
Some even mount the SI xducers on the bottom of the Jack plate ...

I'd add that I install the 2d ducer where I normally would on a transom install, and typically install the si ducer towards the engine, but enough to clear the 20 deg down angle you'll have on the si.
I am not a fan of jackplate or horizontal setback mounting. There is no way to adjust left/right angle, and no boat sits flat in the water.
