Ethernet cable to extend 360
« on: December 07, 2015, 10:09:41 AM »
I need to extend my cable and am looking for a source to get "cat5e patch cable etl verified tia/eia-568-B.2". This is printed on the 360 cable. I have extended it before by purchasing 30' extensions but I want to make a solid cable to the length I need. Thanks Mark

Got it done. 140' of cable.  Runs like it should.

Mark,
Have you tested the 360 as deep as 140'?

I have not.  I have had it to 85'.  But......It will hold up just fine.  I periodically check the screws to make sure they are snug.  My gopro underwater camera housing is a simple oring and it is good to 200' or more.  The 360 is much more robust.  The 360 was developed for fishing.  It was not tested (nor likely thought of for other uses) so there is no data from Humminbird.  It looks to be the first model Koensberg Mesotech scanning sonar without the bells and whistles.  In a month, or 2, I will be able to verify this but it is mechanical and built solid.  It is probably fine to a few hundred feet.  I do know that the extra cable did not affect the signal at all.

Good question.  Maybe what I was saying is this is "pretty much" the same thing.  It has an encapsulated transducer, it's oil filled and it uses a servo motor.  Or maybe the patent ran out, or permission was obtained to use with limited software.  In otherwords, only fishing software.  I don't know for sure but it seems to be the same thing and I have dropped it pretty deep and will send it to about 140' soon.
