Plug the card into your device and power it on ;)
If you're on the water recording data, take care you dont save the records to your navionics card (the device will show a warning to you) if its not write protected.

The map wont be "installed" it's just loaded from the card. If you unplug the card the device will unload the map and you're back to basic map. Actually it's pretty simple.

Greetings,
Del

Does this card automatically go to the lake unit is on? Can other lakes be previewed before actually going there?  :-\

If you turn your device on, the whole map will be loaded and viewable. Your unit will show your current gps position first but you will be able to zoom in and out and move your cursor around the whole world. The area covered by your navionics map will include more detailed informations (which are loaded from the plugged-in navionics card(s)) than the base map.

To be honest, just plug the cards in and start playing around with your unit. Theres a lot to learn and discover ;)

Greetings,
Del

Del, does the whole map load or in reality load a portion relative to your position.  Unless you use the cursor to go to another area.
If the whole map loads then what a waste of memory. If this is the case no wonder some folks have problems with the units. Not enough menory??????

Actually what i've just wanted to make clear to him is that he will be able to access the whole map-covered area. The software isnt just making the parts avaliable to him which are close to his gps position.

I actually got no clue if the maps are completly loaded into memory, from experiences with my 1197c SI it doesnt "feel" like doing so.

Gary and Del....Thanks...
I dont use the maps very much on the HB.....just the sonar...
I know in other units "maps" are quite large and page in sections as you either move on the map or change position with the cursor.
I will have to try sometime to see if there is a prompt like inother units that signal loading as the map is paged...
Isnt it amazing how all these devices do the same thing differently....
