Managing Waypoints
« on: March 22, 2010, 05:49:01 PM »
  Hello,

I am likely missing something.  When I go to save a waypoint it always saves it in a number.  Is there a way to change this (on the water) so that I can save it as an icon such as a fish, dock, etc... the numbers don't mean anything to me after I have gone home for the day or during the day for the matter.  Additionally, when I go to record in the side imaging mode a way point is saved.  Is there a way to turn this feature off?  All it does is add to the number of waypoints.

   Thank you in advance,

  Kevin

I think this is the way it works.  Yes the numbering system is annoying.  I take a pad and pen with me so I can keep the snapshot screen documented.   I think with HBPC you can make changes and then put them back into the unit.  but that is post waypoint.   Maybe some of the PC users can help here.  chuck

Boulder,
unfortunately there's no way of turning the waypoints creation at the recording off.
But for changing the icons you go to the Navigation menu and scroll down to the "waypoint" tab, use the right cursor and go to "edit waypoint". Use the right cursor again and then choose the waypoint you want to edit. Voila: There you go....

Boulder,
You can do what Harry suggests and select blanks for the default waypoint name but this is a manual process while on the water.  You can speed this up by just a little bit by selecting the waypoint with the cursor, than using the MENU and select “Waypoint” followed by whatever the default name is, than use the Right Arrow to select the Edit function from there.  Same as what Harry stated but sometimes a little easier to get to is all.  You could come back at the end of a day of fishing and do this through HumminbirdPC than update the results on your unit though.  One of the upcoming changes we are waiting on is the Waypoint Management software.  Not sure what all it will allow you to set up as defaults but possibly a blank name would be one of the options.  We will know more when the software is released.
