898 with TS3 splitter for Trolling motor
« on: February 18, 2015, 05:59:13 PM »
I am mounting my 898 on the pontoon boat this spring, the si di transducer will go on the back and I have an I-pilot (not link) on the front with the built in transducer. I want to run two transducers off the 898. What I am wondering is what extension cable I will need from the trolling motor to the TS3, as I am not sure what actual transducer is built into the trolling motor.
I know I will need the US2-8 adapter, and of course a TS3, but what transducer extension cable will I need. The 10 ft EC W10 is long enough if that will work?
My other option, which would be much nicer, is to just epoxy one of the RF transducers from a Smartcast on the bottom of the trolling motor, if my unit will read it, I haven't been able to find confirmation on that, as all I need from the front transducer is depth.
Just wondering if Humminbird, due to the fact they already have RF technology for their Smartcast transducers are planning one day, to make all their transducers RF, this would sure save a lot of cabling?

The 2d piezo in the Terrova is a Dual Beam 200kHz/83kHz ...the same as is in your 898 HDSI xducer ...

The xducer extension cable is the EC Wx ... Where "x" is the length of the cable ... It comes in 10ft and 30ft ...

The HB TS3 switch will be a good option for running the HDSI on the back ...And then switching to the US2 on the front ...(You will want to change the "Transducer Select" menu Under the Sonar tab to "Dual Beam" 200kHz/83kHz when using the US2 on the front so that the SI transmitters are disabled in the SI unit) ...

The Smartcast RF will not work with the 898 ... But I agree it would be cool ...
