Is the Platinum Navionics chip worth the money for an 898?
« on: December 27, 2012, 08:40:50 PM »
Exactly what my title says. Is it worth the money over the premium for my 898? Definitely going to buy one or the other but looking for some guidance first. Thanks all!

IMHO, no. The platinum stuff is more or less when you're doing bird's eye view.

I've got the premiun and the platinum for the south. I get a lot more contour info from the platinum. I don't use the BIV or 3D at all. To me it was worth it. I'd like to get the LakeMaster next year if they put more HD on it. Sure would be nice with my HB's.
Just sayin.
Gee that broke easy.

Check the Navionics web site to see if there is still a difference in the HD lake coverage for the lakes that you will fish Honda.  There was a difference between the Premium and Platinum cards at one time but there might not be now.

I know that LakeMaster has been releasing new updates for many of their mapping cards and will continue to do so as they complete them.  So I would check their web site monthly to stay up to date with the new changes that they are making (I think that they have a newsletter that you can sign up for).
