Strange Object?
« on: May 13, 2012, 08:46:44 PM »
Ok, so this weekend was my second time out with my units (just got new boat). I forgot to start the recording for that day since I only have 2GB cards right now, (going to get 8), but I was using side imaging and came over this spot which looked like a huge dust cloud. It started from the bottom of the lake, and came up the water column. I was in about 15ft of water and sadly I don't have a picture. I know where I was and next time I will try to get a screenshot or recording of it. So my question, if this was a dust cloud, could side imaging pick this up? Or if anyone has seen something similar, I'll try to get a screenshot Memorial Day weekend if I can get this to happen again.

My first guess would be shad. I see that quite often. A snapshot would tell for sure. Bob

Very small shad , minnows or some type of prop wash is my guess.

I’ll also throw in the possibility of some sort of thermocline.  A Screen Snapshot would tell us more, especially if it is still there in the same location…
