HELIX G3N and G4N will share everything except mapping data  ... you would need 2 mapping cards if you want more than the basemap in one unit  ...

General Discussion / Software upgrade
« Last post by BrockSolid on February 16, 2024, 06:17:34 PM »
I plan to upgrade Helix units. Going to buy a new 10 or 12 G4N for the bow and a 9 for the console.
My question is, if I bought a used G3N for one of them, are there any issues or problems with networking them after the software upgrade?
Obviously I would like to save some $ if possible.

Thanks

Hi there.. did anyone have any luck downloading maps of your area, then creating an SD-CARD  that Helix would like?
I'm curious as to what format it wants.
I don't mean the tracks that are created as we travel, I mean the entire map of your area.
Thanks, -t

Can the ReefMaster be used to import maps from, say, google earth and saved to a format that can be used by the Helix 5 GPS G3?

Many thanks, -t

ReefMaster Software / What software do I need to create my maps?
« Last post by tkalfaoglu on February 12, 2024, 04:06:08 AM »
Hi there. new user here sorry if this is a repeat.

I just got my Helix 5 CHIRP/GPS G3, downloaded its base map to an SD and it's working well.
However, living in Turkey, the base map leaves a lot to be desired naturally.

I tried creating my own maps with SAS and Insight Map Creator, however the unit ignored all the .at5 's I created. It must need another format I suspect, or even a particular layout on the SD. Does anyone have any information on this?  How can I save it with Insight or any other software and have the device accept these maps?
Any other software recommendation, including paid ones, is welcome!

Many thanks, -turgut

Helix Series Units / NMEA 2000 on Helix G4N
« Last post by Togue Troller on February 08, 2024, 01:33:01 PM »

Can someone explain why Humminbird Helix 8/9 G4N units do not show engine hours and or Total engine hours when connected to a NMEA 2000 engine through the backbone?
Thanks

General Discussion / Re: Mega Imaging With HumViewer
« Last post by Bayou Basser on February 03, 2024, 05:43:49 PM »
ohcsi, I'm not referring to mega live just mega si and di imaging. The last I read about Humviewer is that it will not allow you to view mega si or mega di recordings.  Someone posted that you must move B004 to a folder so that humviewer cannot "see" it otherwise it will lock up.  So, you say that Humviewer will play your mega imaging recordings?

Thanks, Bayou Basser.
