Title: GPS data not being recorded on some recording

Hello,

Im new to the board but have been following it for a while. Lots of good info for newbies like me!

I just installed a new 598 ci HD SI unit on my boat. Ive only been out 4 times so far and am still trying to figure out all the options. Im haveing a problem with the GPS data when recording that I havent been able to solve yet.

The problem is that sometimes no GPS track data gets recorded and sometimes it does. By not recorded I mean that when viewing the replay in Humviewer, the icon in the GPS track window never moves and no data gets sent to Google Earth. Other times it all works fine.

Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong or how to fix it would be great!

I have not seen this issue before.  How often is it happening?  Make sure you have good GPS signal before recording.

If you have a small recording, maybe you can send me one of your .SON files so I can take a look at it and see whats going on.

Hi Robert,

I've only been making recordings on the last two trips out with the boat. On the first of those, I recorded for several hours total but started and stopped several times during the day. I belive I broke the day into 10 or 11 recordings and roughly 3 of them had no GPS data. Then on the last trip I onlyu did one longer recording but got no GPS data on it at all.

In both cases I remember the GPS screen showing a 3D fix at some point.

How short is short and how do you want me to send it? Post it here or?

Robert, this is the smallest .son file I have with no gps data - about 3.8 megs. I have zip'ed it and attached it. Hope this works!

I will have to look at the file tomorrow, but when you playit back on the unit, does it show the gps data?

The reason I ask is because this could really be a Humviewer issue and not a unit issue.

I didn't think to check that and my boat is in the shop for the next week or so. I wont be able to check until I get it back.
