The Landing at West Battle Lake. In all my years I cannot ever remember this. Sure maybe a fleck or two of snow perhaps rain or some miserable wind. But ice? :-\

Here's East Battle lake and Clitherall Lake is no different. Maybe I'll just fish the spawn, we call this spot the foot log, we used to have to cross the crick on an old log.

River fishing for us tomorrow!

Good thing about this I,m gonna be night trolling the spawn yee haa break out the coffee and coveralls ;D Can you say Walleye for breakfast? :P

We have the same thing for ice up on Wabigoon Lake, ON. Water is starting to clear up a bit but this morning it is snowing and cold, so not much melting going to happen today.
Our walleye opener isn't until May 18th though.

Definitely will be. Should be able to fish from my dock though, and as long as I can pull a few eaters out I'll be happy. But I do itch to get the boat out.

Oh my! Yep a 25-40 mph wind started piling the ice & I said to heck with it, this ol man must be getting soft I bailed early. Hopefully it calms waaay down tomorrow. And that auto bailer "One way check valve" I put in the drain plug hole, that can go right in the trash tomorrow morn, the normal drain plugs going back in. A few grains of sand kept it partially open and the dang bilge running for an hour. I took a rubber band and a sandwich bag to it! And by then I was ready for the landing. Ah yes adventures on the opener in partial ice fishing :o
