the message may be coming from a bad wire in the cable assembly. Check your connectors 1st..... 2nd make sure the sensor on the transducer has not been damaged..

I don't know what software you are running, but
maybe if it's a newer version, there is a menu item
to say if you have an external temp probe or not.

Maybe check that.

Other than that, if it's happening on 3 separate transducers,
then I agree with Chuck, with it most likely being that your unit
is malfunctioning.

The temperature should show up regardless of the Transducer Select menu setting offroad.  Try going to the Accessory Test View and see whether it shows the Temperature as connected or not.

Try testing another Humminbird unit on at least one of the transducers to see if the temperature will readout or show as connected on them.  This does not have to be another 1197 unit and can be done with the boat on the trailer (unless you just need an excuse to go fishing…  ;D ).

That is what we are trying to find out Chuck.  That is why I suggested connecting a different unit to at least one of the transducers.  Standard troubleshooting here: try and eliminate a component or section of a system to narrow down where the actual fault is.

Yes Chuck I read that.

That means one of two things:
#1 He purchased three new transducers that all have temperature sensor problems.
#2 His unit is not reading or making connection to the temperature sensor in the three new transducers.

To troubleshoot which of the above problems he has I suggested connecting another unit to at least one of the transducers.  This will confirm which of the above problems he has.

Greg/ Chuck  l have the 898 as well and guess what ? the three Ducers do the same thing on it.... its saying not conected
Why do l have three Ducers ?  They where cheap ! New in the box and they came from Amazon in the States and because l am not in the States it would cost too much to send them back, The photo that they advertised showed a Transducer like the Hd ones you get with your 1197  But when they arrived they where the XTM 9 SI 180T  Trolling motor ones  They work   but it looks like no temp....

The xtm 9 si has the temp probe. look on your transducers and see if there is a copper dot on the front.  That is the temp sensor.

Ok so now we have three transducers not working on two different units.

So with this information it now seems you bought three transducer that do not work with temp..

what is this world coming to.????

so the Amazon photo showed the normal si transducer but you got in the box the trolling motor transducers.
Could you tell if the ones you got had ever been opened. could the amazon seller have substituted three bad transducers for the trolling motor to you..
who on amazon did you get these from..???

Offroad, Join the BAD 180 T Club. I was sent from Humminbird both split open on the fwd edge joint.

I emailed HB CS no reply, called CS was told "That cant happen".

So I glued the xducers, it worked.

offroad, contact them back again.  They are just going through the same troubleshooting steps that you already went through.  Sounds like someone did not read your message very well.  If that does not help; forward me the messages and your contact information and I will forward it to a CRC Lead Person or Supervisor.
