Running side imaging and 1kw to 1197???
« on: September 09, 2013, 08:07:06 AM »
Hi, what is needed to run both a side imaging and a 1kw transducer into a single 1197 unit?

I need the side imaging for inshore work and the 1kw for 300+ ft offshore bottom fishing.

Thanks for any info

Just be sure to get the universal pigtail adapter for you 1KW Airmar transducer.

You will also need to select the correct transducer from the menu each time that you switch unless you are using only the 200 Hz setting with the Humminbird.

prowler650:
Before you pull the trigger on the 1kw transducer, and adapter,
I'd search around the internet, and see if anyone with an 1197 gets good
readings at 300+ feet.
That is extremely deep for these units.
These units are designed mostly for shallow freshwater (Bass fishermen).
It is stated that they will work in water that is 1,500 feet, but will they give GOOD readings at that depth is the big question.

Thanks for the link :) will order one ASAP, thanks!

Yeah I've had the transducer for some time and already have the conection cable, was a big job setting up the 1kw and side transducer on my transom.
The 1197 actually does pretty well even with the standard transducer at that depth, it took a bit to dial it in to read well but impressive for what it was. Can't wait to try the new unit, we are heading out Wednesday night to the shelf, ill take some screen shots and post them up.

Thanks again for your input
