« on: October 01, 2010, 11:39:48 PM »
The 2010-998cSI wouldn't by any chance have the new operating system that will be in the 2011-1198's?
Saw a post on another site ( please forgive me ) the made me curious.

The 2010 800, 900 series units (858c, 898c Si, 958c, 998c Si) along with the 2011 1100 series units (1158c, 1198c Si) all run on the Linux operating system.  So to answer your question: "Yes".

Greg .... I purchase my 998c SI in July 2010 at Bass Pro. Is there a way I can tell if it is really a 2010 with Linux OS?

Doug
One way to tell is by looking at the serial number.
For example:  the # is 100216XX-XXXX
      1st two #'s ( 10 ) = mfg in 2010
      2nd two #'s ( 02 ) = Feb.
      3rd two #'s ( 16 ) = 16th day of month

      I think all 998's are 2010 units.

The serial number won’t matter with the 998 units as they have all been built with the Linux software.  The 998 units are all 2010 year models (we did not build them during our 2009 model year).
