Title: SI doesn't really look to the side
Post by: Christophm on April 26, 2020, 05:01:25 AM
Hi guys,

I recently encountered some problems with my Helix 9 G3N SI+ and wondered if you could give me some advice.
2D and DI work fine. SI also displays a clear image but it seems that SI only looks downwards but not to the side.

Structures on the bottom are displayed as they should. But trees hanging in the water next to the boat do not appear at all.
I attach an example of a floating boat dock where the barrels should appear on SI but they don't.

Do you have any hints for me? I already made a factory reset.
Can this be a failure of the transducer?

Best regards,
Christoph

The MEGA SI beam angles are closer to 55° from vertical on each side similar to the 800kHz SI frequency seen in this diagram  ...:

This means objects at the surface (like floating dock modules) are in the weakest outer fringes of the MEGA SI beam angle sound pulse ...and simply will not reflect as much of the sonar pulse  ...
