navionics SD card
« on: April 07, 2015, 10:13:26 AM »
I'm looking at buying the 1199ci HD SI. Does this come with lake maps with detail or do I need to buy a SD card like navionics premium and put it in?

It comes with the ContourXD maps in it but if you want detailed 1-foot contour maps you will need to look at getting either a LakeMaster or Navionics mapping card for it (or make your own using AutoChart).

I have a navionics premium hot maps card in my 898c si do I need to put another in the 1199ci hd si or can both use the same card? I mean will they both use the card even though it is in one unit?

My card in my 898 is a navionis hot maps premium. It's about three years old. Do I need to put the same card in the 1199 or can it be different? I bass fish so does one card have any advantage over another?

You can use the Premium map card in either unit ... But only one unit at a time ...

Core units cannot share mapping ... (Only Onix and Ion can share mapping) ...

All Navionics cards have the same mapping detail ...

Platinum cards have additional satellite overlay, 3d mosaic, and pictures of marinas you will never visit ...

Navionics+ cards have no mapping and you download only the lakes that you want ...

You may want to check with Navionics to see if they have updated any of the lakes that you fish on that map card.

There are also LakeMaster and LakeMaster Plus mapping cards that will work with your 1199 unit.  They have the added features of Depth Highlight, Shallow Water Highlight and Water Level Offset (http://www.humminbird.com/Category/Technology/Lakemaster/#id_Features ).

You may also be able to go with the ChartSelect maps and buy only the lake(s) that you need (http://www.humminbird.com/Category/Technology/ChartSelect/ ).

Whichever way you go, be sure to check and make sure that the lake(s) that you want is covered in a hi-def survey so that you will have 1-foot depth contours.
