while im running on the water the place where my transducer is mounted throws a very high rooster tail should i lower it to stop this. the transducer works fine othrwise

Call HB and ask if there is a transducer plug made for your unit, might help.

Do you have a picture of your installation?  It is possible that the transducer is too low in the water.  A plug may or may not help.

Good suggestions so far.  What transducer do you have.
Lowering it will probably increase the roostertail.
As George said take and post pictures of your install...

We don’t make a plug for the HDSi transducers – only for the smaller CSi transducers that are shipped with the 798 units.

Raising the transducer will help to get rid of the roostertail but it may also affect the ability of the transducer to get high-speed water depth readings.

Take electrical tape and wrap it around the open part of the bracket, this will eliminate the rooster tail!

Yes, wrap it around the gap between the mounting bracket to the puck!
