Navionics coverage level of detail,
« on: September 16, 2014, 11:39:49 PM »
Hello,
I'm trying to find out the level of detail the South East Australian Navionics charts give.

Offshore I imagine they are very good, I don't fish offshore.

Based on that I need to know whether the SE Australian charts are worth the money to me.

Any ideas on where to look, Google hasn't been my friend so far?

Thanks,
Geoff

Geoff

When I wanted to know the detail on our local area, I called their 800 # and the lady emailed me a couple images from that chip for our lake.
     Saved me some money.

Have you been to the Navionics web site and used their Web App Geoff?  I think it is supposed to show the same detail level as will be on the map cards but Navionics can confirm that.  I just tried it but had to wait a bit for the map to update due to the heavy internet usage we have here at work.  Try contacting your local dealer through the corporate web page or contact them directly via e-mail.

Thanks Greg,
I looked on their website but didn't appear to see the web app.
I just had a play with it and it does appear to show the level of detail I require in the areas I require.

Pity we can't get Lakemaster for here in Australia, the ability to have my Minnkota follow a depth profile would be fantastic!

Don't wait for LakeMaster to map your area - do it yourself with AutoChart and make your own map.

Auto Chart will work with my 798's??

I'll get onto that project over summer and I know exactly where I'm going to start!!

Thanks,
Geoff

AutoChart can work with just about any Humminbird unit that can use a LakeMaster map – even if the unit does not have the specific software upgrade to work with the AutoChart maps:
