Title: Second faulty 898 SI transducer
Post by: scylla on April 10, 2016, 06:38:18 AM
Not very happy today.  For the second time my 898 SI combo has a problem with the transducer.  First one replaced under warranty within the first twelve months.  This one is coming up two years and the head unit will not detect the transducer.  Another Humminbird unit I tested it on says the same.  It went from good to will not read.  No cable issues apparent and transducer is in good condition.

It seems to me they are consumables - but not at the price.  I have two boats and between them three other sounders.  Never have any problems with other transducers - now two SI transducers in three years.  Not happy!!!!

I will be contacting Hummingbird through the retailer.  I can tell you it if I do not get a satisfactory result I will be posting  on every forum in Australia that I can find.

Anyone else having similar issues?

Cheers
Scylla

Is the xducer showing "Not Connected" in the Accessories test view ... ??

Or ... are all the Sonar views showing no data ... ??

It is showing not connected (on the 898 and as well when i use it on an older matrix)

The older matrix transducer shows as connect on both units

There's not much else to check except to inspect the pins carefully to make sure they're all there ...

Thanks Rickie

All pins present and male and female ends look clean and gold.

Very disappointing to have two faulty transducers in 3 years.
