Title: Onix 10 vs Helix 10
Post by: Bill H on January 26, 2016, 12:55:20 PM
What is the advantage of the Onix 10 over the Helix 10 other than touchscreen ?

I'm running the 998 and thinking of upgrading.

ONIX is more customizable, has dedicated DI technology in the SI unit, CHIRP capable, rotary control knob, joystick, on-screen keyboard for naming waypoints ...

HELIX is widescreen format, brighter, networks to core units, 3 preset buttons on the bezel ...

The primary thing from an imaging view point ..... as Rickie indicated ....is the all in one transducer with the Onix that includes a dedicated DI element ..... I have seen posts of some REALLY good DI images.

The Onix has touch screen capability if you are interested in that.

There are some other advantages if you are running a 360 .... post back if you are interested in that info.

With the Helix, you would have to go to the 12 to get chirp capability.... and the Helix can do chirp with the standard transducer.  The chirp units generally have better 2D even when not in chirp mode because they have a better 2D processor.......To do chirp with the Onix is a VERY expensive proposition with a black box and special transducer.
