Quick question on 998c
« on: April 17, 2016, 09:27:49 AM »
I had to restore defaults to fix a side imaging issue.  Do i also now have to reinstall the latest update?  I am missing the option of displaying the temp on screen now after the restore.

A "restore defaults " should only set the units settings back to those from the factory.  It should not affect the units updates.

Duck,

Hit the Menu key twice and scroll over to Setup, then scroll down to Select Readouts. There you can re-setup your temp readout. Make sure your menu is set up as Advanced.

In addition to the others good advice ... :

There will be no Temp selection in the "Select Readouts" "Menu" when the unit is in Simulator ...(if this is where you are experiencing the issue) ...

Make sure the unit is in Normal Operating mode ...

It was in normal operating mode and in use on the water.  Hoping to get it out Thursday to see if I can remedy the problem.

Ok, Im at a loss now.  SI/DI now works which was my initial issue.  I did the factory default reset.  Now  I dont have a temp, which was working before the reset.  When the unit is initially powered up and you go into the system status page, the temperature selection says "not connected".  I have disconnected and reconnected all the plugs at the back of the unit and still get the same result.  I got this unit last spring and it doesnt have many hours on it.  Any suggestions?

On the 998, the 2D, DI, SI and temp all come from the transducer through the same connection. Did you have the transducer unplugged when you did the restore defaults?
The pins in that plug are easy to move to where they won't make contact.

Another option would be hook up another transducer or a different head unit to your transducer to see if either work. Divide and conquer.
