Dark screen
« on: December 15, 2014, 02:56:31 PM »
I have a 997c when I turn on the side image the screen is almost all dark I can barley see it. This unit is 4 years old and only has about 40 hours use. does anyone have an  idea what the problem is?

Are the 2d readings coming from the same xducer ..??
Any anomolies in the 2d images ...??
----------

Make sure the xducer is still parallel with the water's surface ...
----------

Open the SI XPress menu (1 Menu button press)...

*Make sure the "SI Range" setting is set to more than the actual water depth ...
*Raise SI Sensitivity to increase brightness ...

If this doesn't work ... Restore Defaults under the Setup tab ... And then post some snapshots of the issue ...

Thanks Rick I will try it I read somewhere else that these units are not waterproof. Another website said that water will get inside them and they found some parts had rust on them. Could this be true?

The units are tested to IP7 Standards ...

If the SD Card door was open during a complete immersion or huge downpour ... Maybe not so much ...

I'm guessing your issue is either settings or xducer out of alignment or xducer gone bad ...(Due to your mention of the entire SI view being at issue and not just one side of the SI view)...

Test my list above and we can work from there ... Process of elimination is best in these situations ...

And be sure to test on the water ... Sonar doesn't read thru air very well ...
